I’ve pretty much finished my “inspection” and am moving things into the Lo-Liner.
I found that the city water connection leaked right into the wall behind the sink ;-( A little disassembly found a cracked brass fitting so I set out to replace it. It seems that that part isn’t available anymore, and the local hardware store (which has a reputation for having everything) didn’t have a replacement. I ended up replacing everything from the hose connection to the sink supply line. And the damned thing still leaks ;-( Only a little now, and I can deal with it by pulling the connection out of the wall so the drip runs down the outside of the wall instead of the inside.
When I bought the trailer, I was told that “my neighbor who’s an electrician will fix up the shore power input for free.” So I asked that it be done before picking up the trailer. Lo and behold, it’s fixed. And best of all, it’s fixed right! Many thanks to the nameless neighbor electrician for doing it right, instead of the easy way. Thanks!
On the other hand, the 12 VDC battery power works, but has no charger, and no connections except the two ceiling mounted light fixtures. No way to charge phone, tablet, etc. I will get that stuff working for this season, just out of convenience. Mostly it just needs a battery charger and a couple of 12 VDC outlets.
I don’t think I’m going to have local water storage and supply this season. It’s a bunch of work to install tank, all new plumbing, pump, vent, and drain. This year I’ll be camping with hookups so I won’t need it, and I’ll decide later whether it’s worth the expense and work.
With a little diligence, I got six of the nine jalousie windows to open and close. The rest have stripped gears, broken linkage, or jammed hinges. We’ll see what more effort and ingenuity can do for those. I just discovered replacement cranks in the local hardware store!
I put a couple of stiffeners under the shelf in the closet. It was just a piece of 3/8″ ply supported at the ends. Now it has 1 X 3 stiffeners front and rear. Then I covered it with non-slip shelf covering, along with all the other shelves and drawers. I’m still looking for drawer stops to keep the drawers from being pulled all the way out of the cabinet.
I’ve moved all the kitchen equipment that came out of the teardrop into the Lo-Liner. Some stuff went straight across. A bunch of stuff have no corresponding places on the Lo-Liner.
And no space for a wastebasket or garbage can. Every inch of floor space in the L0-Liner is taken, so I have to figure out where to put the garbage and recycling bags. Unlike the teardrop, there is a good place to mount a fire extinguisher, so there’s now one at the end of the kitchen cabinets.
The teardrop has lots of storage in the cabin for clothing. The Lo-Liner doesn’t, if you use that space for groceries and supplies ;-) So, I got some clear-front plastic bins that fit under the front of the bed. The clear front will allow me to know what’s inside without having to open it.
I plan to go “yamping” in the Lo-Liner next weekend. That’s camping in the yard. I need to be sure I can sleep in the trailer OK before going anywhere with it.
