Tuesday May 24, 2016 — Grants Pass OR

The drive diagonally across Oregon from my sister’s to my house is long, twisty, and very scenic. I take Highway 26 which passes through the most picturesque parts of central Oregon. Even with the length of the drive, I enjoy it every time I make it.

I stopped at a rest area just west of the Ochoco summit and met a young man, Oliver, who is walking from Astoria Oregon to New York City. He uses a 3-wheeled baby carriage to carry his gear, and says he tries to make 30 miles a day. Oliver is from Slovenia and we didn’t discuss his motivation for undertaking such an adventure, but he expects that it might take a year “depending on the Rockies.” Whew!

The rest of the drive following that encounter was low key and I was happy to get home and put the teardrop in the carport.
