Saturday May 21, 2016 – Twin Falls ID

It rained right behind me as I was leaving Ft Bridger. It was snowing hard at the summit of the Wasatch Mountains as I headed West. In fact it rained off and on right until I got into Twin Falls. I hate setting up camp in the rain, so I opted to stay in a hotel again.

A Google search “brewpubs near me” yielded Von Sheidt Brewing. They looked closed but the food truck in the parking lot was open, so I tried the place. It turns out that the bartender/assistant brewer had forgotten to turn on the Open sign.

They make one good beer, their Lever Action Amber Ale. The IPA is way over hopped and under malted. I tried several of his guest beers including a Black Lager and another forgotten beer. Bad, bad, and worse. The Lever Action was a decent pub beer. Nothing better than I could make, but OK. After lots of conversation with Martin the bartender and assistant brewer, I went to Coops BBQ for dinner. Nice meat, great cole slaw. And more Lever Action on draft.

I’ve been out here for a long time. It’s nice to be in a motel room again. Camping does have it’s drawbacks. But the benefit is that you meet people, which you don’t in a motel. I would never have met any of the people I’ve met along the way if I had been staying in a motel!!!

A stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet!
