A Tour of my 1971 Lo-Liner

Here’s a short pictorial tour of the trailer as is is today.

You can see that there are some “lumps and bumps” but it’s structurally sound, the right size, the right floor plan, and above all, the right price for my immediate needs.

My plan is to make the trailer usable to my standards without investing a lot of money and then use it this season. At the end of the season, I’ll decide if I want to keep it and invest more time and money, keep it as is, or sell it and look for a trailer in better shape.

The Lo-Liner is shorter than my teardrop by a couple of feet, but has a lot more room inside. Here’s the galley and dining area. Yes, those are avocado-green fixtures and counter. It was built in the 70’s after all!

The galley has an ice box, which I’d like to replace with a refrigerator, but not this season. The previous owner has two teen-age daughters, one of whom left me a message on the icebox door.

The trailer has been around, and has had many owners, and each has put his own mark on the trailer. The previous owner painted the interior white, which is a vast improvement over the faux-wood grain paneling and this striped wallpaper that shipped when the trailer was built. It’s in some of the original brochure photos.

That photo also shows the sophisticated circuit breaker box. One 15-Amp breaker. The teardrop had four…. But it will do for now and it’s fairly easy to expand if I decide I need more circuits.

here’s a view looking aft of the bed and overhead storage. The cabinet over the bed actually unfolds to become an upper bunk! I’m not too sure I’d want to sleep up there. The brochure says this model “sleeps six.” They’d better be pretty small.

The bottom cabinets under the stove and sink conceal the wheel well, not useful storage. I’ll have to figure out what lives in there.

Here’s the storage cabinet. The lower two doors conceal the wheel well on that side. The cabinet has four doors, each a different size!?

There is lots of stuff you can do to and with a trailer. I like going camping with mine. The Lo-Liner is an experiment to see if I like this style of camping and if I like doing it in a small trailer like this. I’ll do enough “to” the trailer to keep me busy this spring and to bring it up to a level of usability acceptable to me. Now let’s go put some miles on it and some nights in it.
