Photo Session

I decided that I was going to put the teardrop in the garage to begin work on my improvement projects (see previous post) this week. Since I have to hitch up the teardrop to move it from the driveway into the garage, I decided also that I would take it out for a photo session.

One complaint from a reader of this blog was that they had to look to find a photo of the teardrop. That’s now fixed, it’s at the top of every page. But the aspect ratio of the header photo is weird (195 X 940 pixels), so nothing I had would crop to give me a decent-looking picture. So I shot a photo so I could crop it to the necessary dimensions, and still have a decent photo.

I had intended to shoot the wide-angle shot with the baylands south of the Dumbarton bridge as the background, but Caltrans has turned the entire area I planned to use into a construction site, so I had to find another location. While scouting for a new location, I found an unoccupied industrial building that has lots of colorful trees surrounding the parking lot. We don’t see much “fall color” here in the Bay Area, so I decided to shoot in the empty parking lot.

Here’s some of the fall colors reflected in the hatch cover. Note the rivets.

When Ken and I arrived with the trailer, there was a CHP officer taking a break, doing paperwork in his car, in the lot. Hmmmm, I wondered what he would do or say. But, let’s get on with it. It was getting windy and I wanted to get on with it. So we parked the Forester and teardrop and commenced shooting. We spent well over an hour shooting the teardrop, and the colorful trees, and the officer never left his car to inquire or comment. Oh well.

Here’s the header photo before cropping.

It didn’t take long to get a photo suitable for the header of the blog, and with a few extra for good measure, we were done and out of there. I brought the teardrop home and backed it into the recently cleaned garage where it will remain while I finish some of those projects.
