Another Dam Fine Time

Last Wednesday I hitched up the teardrop and went down to Shasta Lake to attend the 22nd Annual Dam Gathering of the Tears.

As always it was a dam fine time. The crowd was a good mix of old friends and new ones. I met lots of great people and saw many fine and interesting trailers including Alfie, a canvas-topped camping trailer built on a stake bed utility trailer in 1939!

For the first time, I took no photos. I was too busy looking at trailers, talking to people, serving homebrew, talking to people, making new friends, and of course drinking some beer ;-)

This was the first camping trip with the teardrop in a year and a half, so I was a little disorganized and forgot some stuff, but all in it turned out well. I bought the new side table for the first time and really like the fact that it’s about the same height as the counter top in the galley. I seem to have lost one of my table cloths, so I’ll make a trip to the fabric store soon. While I’m there I’ll find some suitable fabric for the vestibule. Even without the roof or the tarp tent, the vestibule is a valuable addition to the trailer. I need to make new receiver blocks because the prototypes have fallen apart, and I need better cinch straps for holding the poles against the trailer, but the design has worked well. Thank you Gordon Burwell!

As I’m fond of saying, “The most fun I’ve had with my clothes on in a long time!”
