Headed Home – Yellowstone to Ogden UT

Well, it was a long day, but I made the 350+ mile drive from Fishing Bridge to a KOA in Ogden UT. I grabbed a MacDonalds along the way for lunch in Idaho Falls along with gas and kept going. I was just about out of stamina when I got here. The temps are in the high 80s with 85 in the trailer. I finally got a data signal working on the phone, but still can’t get the laptop to connect to WiFi successfully. Now I’m outdoors. If it’s not going to work, at least I’ll go outdoors where it’s cooler, and it doesn’t work!

Tomorrow I have a long drive across the desert to Elko, or there abouts, With any luck, I’ll get a connection when I get there. Or maybe at Kenny’s, or wait ‘till I get home. I got the phone working so I can send emails and do FB, but it would be nice if the damned WiFi worked at all!

I’m sitting outside the trailer, with the laptop on battery on the picnic table. The outdoor temp is coming down, but in the trailer is still pretty warm. I need to pack up the sleeping bag, and probably the comforter as well. I don’t think it’s gonna get down in the 40s tonight ;-)

Yellowstone was worth all the effort. One thing that I’ve failed to mention is how big it is. It took me two hours this AM to drive from my campsite to the park entrance! Ah, and I added moose to my wildlife list. As I was driving down highway 20 outside the park by an hour, traffic suddenly slowed and I saw a moose calf? run toward the highway, then turn and run back into the trees. It would have been moose mess had the truck in front of me hit the moose. Moose mish mash!

I’ll be happy to get back to some humidity. The dry air is wrecking havoc with my skin. My cuticles and skin around my nails are all cracked, my hands are dry and cracked, and my elbows are so dry that it hurts to apply skin cream. I’m going to use a lot of that hand cream when I get home. Hopefully on schedule. I’ll get on the road early tomorrow, and try to get to Elko in one day. Then Kenny’s won’t be a problem, and the day from Kenny’s to home will be all down hill, so to speak.

I can’t believe how much trouble I’ve had with WiFi along the way. Some places have been great, like Brian’s Farm, and Nelson City Campground. Other places have been nothing but trouble. I wonder if the laptop is getting flakey? That Symantic email scanner looks like a virus of some kind. I think the XPS needs to get it’s HD scrubbed and upgraded to Win8.

No joy with the WiFi even after speaking to the campground manager about it. Oh well, problem must be on this end, but none of the diagnostics seem to indicate such.
