Insulated and upholstered!

Woo hoo! The insulation is all glued in place and the hull liner fabric is glued to it. There’s a little clean up to do and I have to build a box around the fan over the door but the interior of the teardrop is insulated and upholstered.

Well, not entirely… I still need to insulate the interior of the storage cabinets, and I’d like to find a way to cover the front of the storage cabinets (currently raw old aluminum) with hull liner also. But those aren’t priority items.

I found some Tee-molding on the ‘net to cover the seams and gaps, but I have to decide on the size and color. I’m tempted to use a dark brown, for a little color contrast.

The box around the fan, over the door, is more challenging than I first thought. As I’ve worked on it, I’ve realized that it must be removable so I can get to the wiring harness and the fan itself, in case I need to service/replace something. I think I will make masonite panels covered with hull liner fabric, and hold them in place with velcro tabs.

Here’s a “before” photo of the interior of the teardrop when I first picked up, just over a year ago.

The cabin had no lights or fan for ventilation. It was exposed angle-iron frame and aluminum siding, with all the associated sharp corners and hard sides.
